District 9, Avatar, X-Men III, KingKong… Patrick Kalyn hat einiges hinter sich, wenn es um die Special Effects bei großen Produktionen geht. Mithilfe von Triton Films, Skywalker sound, Jesper Kyd, der Scores für Videospiele (Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Hitman, Robotech: Invasion, Assassin’s Creed) schreibt, und knapp 10.000 Dollar Budget hat er sich als Regisseur verdingt und mit Somnolence (dt. Schalfsucht) einen mini-SciFi-Thriller gedreht. Die Special Effects sind nett, die Schauspieler und weite Teile der Story  … mhhh … naja. Wie immer viele unbeantwortet Fragen und Fragezeichen an allen Ecken.

By 2031, the Earth has exhausted its supply of fossil fuels. With the world on the verge of collapse, nations from around the globe form a coalition called AREN; the ‘Manhattan Project’ of clean self-replenishing energy. When an experiment goes wrong that threatens the world’s existence, David Canterra and a team of elite soldiers are sent on a mission to stop the anomaly.
